Is it fair to have just 1 game per elimination???

Hi fellow NPL heroes :)

As you know, after the match-ups, we will be able to play just 1 game with the opponent team, to find out who qualifies to the next round and who is eliminated. I have been consulting to friends who will also participate in the tournament about this, and it seems there is a consensus about how unfair it can be.
As we all may have experienced, a single event of lag, or an unlucky happening unrelated to the game etc. can ruin the game easily.

I think a BO3 (best of 3 games) should not only lower the chances of that kind of events, where the elimination stops an indicative of a worse gameplay, and also prove the skills of teams better. Although I know that it might be intimidating to think that 3 games are way harder to get over with, compared to 1, i think that wouldnt cause much problem. Because, when all players are present for that particular game, it should not be much harder to have 3 games instead of 1. It is not like a BO21 after all :)

If you think this makes sense please tell me your opinions, and i hope it will lead to a poll.

I completely agree. I hope the tournament organizers pay attention to this suggestion.

What if players cannot play 3 games in a row on that day will they have to reschedule the other 2 matches if needed?

I second the OP's suggestion, it will be very unfortunate to get eliminated based on one game's outcome. Lot of things can go wrong in a single game. And a second chance is something that is very much part of the major tournaments aoczone holds.

To fabking, Yes ofcourse if someone is bound by time due to some reason we should schedule within the limited time given for each round. It shouldn't make any difference to time schedule at all whether its one game or three. It can be very well that someone cannot make for single game even. Most of players signed up, usually play 5-6 bf games in a single day.

I hope this is considered also.

In anyway situation, since its my first post here. I really like to thank and admire the time and work put by all of you organizing the tournament. I know its lot of work and its a heck of a job. Ty fabking and michi! and also the rest.

My main concern is playing the 3 games. What if you can only get in one game for that day? Sure you will still have a week to complete the first Round, but what if your opponents or teammates only have a few days out of the week to play all 3 games? I thought about this (bo3), but it didn't appear to be an issue. Trying to organize 8 players to play on the same date and time for one game might be hard enough.

I understand that everybody has a bad game. I just wish this was brought up sooner. This is the first time I've heard complaints about this being a one-match tournament.

I also wanted to make this Tournament as simple as I possibly could. Since it's the first Tournament for the NPL.
both teams can be given 1 or 2 restarts before 10 min per round

For what reason? Under what circumstance?

Please discuss.

+1 Mich. I agree a BO3 is a better idea because one game you can play like it's your first game and the next you can be on that Viper Hype. BUT... Myself personally feel that one game holds more benefits. For one, like Mich mentioned, some teams might not have time to play the 3 in a row, 1 game of BF atleast lasts 1 hours long. ATLEAST, therefore you need bare minimum 3 free hours if not more. Okay yes you can spread the 3 games over the week but take my team for example. A Brit, Greek, Dutch and an American... $ different time zones (not to mention the American is -7 hours...) To arrange one game for us will be hard enough let alone three.

Not only the time-zone difference there is ofc other problems such as work, education, socialising.

But maybe a counter offer? The finals could be BO3? And have maybe 2 weeks to play the games? Since no one would be waiting for the games to finish to continue the tournament.

In reply to the restarts, there are already restarts available for "bugged maps" which I presume tournament hosts will determine? I believe a team should have 1 restart for every two games. This restart excludes bugged maps. Peoples are entitled to use their restart if they feel they are disadvantaged to the point the game is possibly already predetermined. Examples could include: Failed boar lure (death of a vil), poor map layout (eg base full of hills, very open path between enemies, all golds/stones are very close to bottle neck therefore if enemy attacks they will lose access to these resources) possibly death of vills due to a pack of 8 wolves (it happens, trust me) BUT a restart cannot. CANNOT. be used if you lose a vill war. ?

Thoughts?

Exactly.

We can do this.

The criteria for restarts is listed under the Terms & Conditions of both A & B sign-up threads. The tournament hosts will decide which matches warrant a restart/rematch. It's not a good idea to list ALL criteria involved. It would be way too lengthy. Assigning specific timed criteria for restarts (other than what is already listed under T&C) would also have too many what-ifs involved.

Well,

I think that we(division B) have been playing almost everyday on voobly, therefore, it's reasonable to have a BO3 ( best of 3 ) for us. I can't say the same for division A. Please tell me if I'm wrong, but I see a lot of you guys playing during the week, and I think that it won't be any problem to have 2+ games to play considering that we have a week to play... I just played 3 or 4 games(today)... lol

For finals and semi-finals we can do a Bo3 for both Divisions. I don't want the entire tournament to be like that though. It would complicate things from the start I think. Especially since this was mentioned really late.

We would do it for both Divisions. It would be unfair to do this for one Division and not for the other.

Not a lot of feedback on this subject. It's been brought up via messenger a few times before this post, so I expected to have a lot more people posting their opinions on it.

I agree with the BO3 in all rounds, but if it is going to be too messy (it is already compicatead because of all the criteria involved) lets do it in semi-finals and finals as Mich said.

Ok, I will change the 'elimination' portions.

Division A & B will now have Bo3 (best of 3 matches) in the Semi-Finals and Final Rounds.

Brackets & Elimination Info

Elimination Rounds: Rounds 1 & 2 are single elimination Rounds (if you lose the first match, you don't move on to the next Round). For Semi-Finals (Round 3) and the Final Round (Round 4) it will be Bo3 (best out of 3 matches). The team with the two wins and one loss for that Round will move on.
