A few of us had a brief chat with Taff about a few issues regarding VCOM. I'll bullet point the issues that came up and summarise what was said.
  • Prizes - An opinion that is shared by Taff, Sugar and Myself is that CS awards are utterly worthless at the moment. This lead to the Tournament ladder which is now visible in the CS lounge. It seems to be the opinion of most people that premiums should only be handed out for big tournaments.
  • Indian Tournaments - Taff is against adding a league for only one nationality, at least not until its proven to be worth it in terms of participation. I must add that there are big changes coming with the new WSVG partnership and any long term plans should be avoided until we get a public update on the new tournament features that are a part of the deal.
  • VCOM Chain of Command - Since Taff was not even aware that Blake is acting as the main man for accepting tournaments we can conclude the VCOM system is fundamentally flawed for CS. This needs to be addressed and a clear hierarchy put in place. I will expand on this with my own thoughts below.

Contents:

Prizes

Badges should be for standout events, I mean really big events. I'm talking 64+ participants which is something we have not passed in years. If we ever try a schedule based tournament this could also apply. On the topic of schedule tournaments I believe we should avoid them until we have all of our organisational issues resolved.

Premiums can be offered for 32+ players, but only in small amounts and only once per month. For example, I only awarded one month silver to the winners of the last CBA tournament. We could say that there is a max of 3 months silver available for each and share it out.

Here is my suggested system for awarding points to the tournament ladder.

32+ Players - 20 / 16 / 12 / 8
16+ Players - 16 / 12 / 8 / 4
1-15 Players - 12 / 8 / 4

Closed Events

I should say Indian events. Light wants to host tournaments every weekend. My idea is that you have a points quota for each month to award to tournaments. If a regular tournament will give a max of 56 points then it would be unfair to award much more to another closed community. If you wanted to do 4 tournaments a month then you could work it like this:

Event 1: 7/5/3 (16)
Event 2: 5/3/1 (9)
Event 3: 12/8/4 (24)
Event 4: 5/3/1 (9)

This is close enough to the limit without being unfair. Another way to improve this arrangement is to make it so the highest ranked indian players on the tournament ladder will get premium memberships after 6 months. Which we will do for international members too.

Chain of Command

We really need to sort this out for CS.The system should work something like this:

CS VCOM Overlords
Justin
Sugar
Taff

These guys are basically there for when VCOM has done its job and needs something that Blake or I cannot do. They are not there to answer to every query or request from a VCOM member. In theory Blake and I should be the only ones carrying any requests to them.

CS VCOM Administrator
Blake
Blake should be the focal point. He needs to be positioned so that nothing can go out of control. Everything should be passed by him before any action is taken.

CS VCOM Senior Member
Barry
I've been there and done that. I'll cover for blake if he needs time away or anything. I'm also well capable of holding a tournament on my own.

CS Regulars
(Everyone else who isn't a trial)
Anyone who is a regular should be trusted to be able to plan and run a tournament as part of a team or even alone (not recommended). If a regular wants something done they should go to Blake, or go to me to pass it on to Blake. They should not circumvent this chain by going to a senior staff member unless its a case of something seriously going wrong.

CS Trials
(all the trials)
They should start by assisting regular members.

I'm still thinking on the points issue.

I think we should aim for one GMT based tournament every three weeks. Any less than that and people will get bored of them. So we can run all tournament points quotas in a three week cycle.

Three weeks - Week 1 is an indian event, Week two is a GMT event, Week 3 is an indian event
and repeat..

Max points for the GMT event is as I said above and the same for the indian event. We will also need to have a rule that if an Indian player places in the GMT tournaments, as well as both indian events that he cannot receive the full points.

I rambled a bit there, heres what I mean:

I'll set 19th October as the start of the cycle.
19th Oct - Asian CBA Hero
26th Oct - GMT CBA 2v2
2nd Nov - Indian tourney

Every two asian/indian tournament will have about the same points as one for the rest of the world.

56 for one 32+ gmt event
56 divided whatever way you want for two closed events.

It was entirely random. Slash and I were talking to him about different issues entirely then it somehow ended up a little VCOM related meeting.

I would like to suggest something here. Instead of making one country tournaments, Can't we do like make tournaments open to all but at different timings.
One week make tournament at 12 Gmt, 2nd week at 18 Gmt and 3rd at 2 Gmt.
This way people from all over the world can participate at whatever time they prefer.
Indians can play 12 Gmt, Some asians and Europeans can play 18 Gmt and the americans can play at 2 Gmt.
No country will get benefit and maybe tournament mods wont have problem even

We simply need some Europeans to help us a bit. Almost every CS member we got is Asian. Not gonna work this way I think unless we recruit. I got a new job which doesn't allow me to host tours in weekends :(

i think it is unfair for all the Pakistani's as they are nearly the same time as the indians

Pakistanis can't play the gmt tour because it is too late / early and in the indian tourney {which is quite suitable for them } they can't play

:D
think over it pakistanis should be allowed to play in indian tourneys making it Asian {including srilankans and other asian countries :D}

pakistani community is about 1/2 of the indian community .. think over it ..
else ;thumbup
