Due to success of TIW, I am willing to throw some cash into a 1v1 tournament. Problem a lot of tournaments encounter are:
- Players don't like the maps or find them hard to bother practicing in
- Newer or weaker players are knocked out early and lose confidence in playing the maps further
- Some players find it hard to commit to one day events due to work/social conflicts
- Scheduling matches is just as bad

A system that actually worked reasonably well was the old AoC-Realm ladder. The way it worked was people played any opponent on the ladder and gained points for a win like how a sports ladder works.

So the map I am going to propose first is 1v1 Khans - reason being it's a popular map in our clan and there are many others outside of ViCiouS who play it well. It's also a map that rewards practice, and the system I'm going to implement will encourage such.

How I plan it to work. I'll open it up to 24 slots with a cut-off date. Overwhelming interest and I'll allow more slots. After sign-up phase the games phases will run for 4 weeks, giving plenty of time for people to play as many sets as possible. Players will earn a point for a set played, or 2 points (or 3 if it suits better) for winning a set.

I think this approach will help discourage people from avoiding stronger players in the long run and see maximum games played. If there's success I plan to host similar events using different maps that are likely to work.

BO3 set will suffice. I am sure Voobly can create a ladder similar to Match Stats where the games can be recorded so people can't use the "I thought they were practice sets" excuse.

Winner will get $300 and any prizes Voobly are willing to dish out.

Any feedback is welcome, I've wanted to host cash tournaments in the past but have never found a system that players were comfortable with.
