hi everyone,
i am having some issues playing with a friend on voobly, in age of empires Rise of Rome HD.
Usually its me that hosts but the problem persists if its him to host: the game starts going well but after a few minutes it starts lagging and its impossible to play. We have tried:
- Disabling Hardware Accelaration
- Disabling 32 bit mode
- Port forwarding, for me the network diagnostis is still "failed"

Any help?
Thanks

hi
d/load the free app from here to check your port is open. elusive takes the money but no longer "repairs" the site and the network app is not reliable.
[You must login to view link]
Network Utilities Bundle.
is it your m8 that shows lag?
are you playing against the pc or other players?

Hi kitt,
my mate is having the same identical lags when he plays with me on voobly.
I have opened my 16000 udp port. Does my mate needs to do the same on his computer?
We are playing versus each other and with computer too.

Yes, he needs to open his port too. You guys are not playing in the same network/house right?

I cant find in his router admin the :"port mapping", but i see some kinda option that is called "virtual server". It seems to set an ip and a port ... i am on the right way?

hi
port forward or virtual server is what you use [as above] not port mapping. games on voobly played against the pc A1, tend to lag/crash. should not lag playing each other.

Update:
My friend and I both opened the 16000 udp port. The result is that the lag is a bit less than before but still non playable.

Anyway the issue seems to be related to graphic too: when i go back windows while age of empires online is still in execution, then i go in game again without closing the application, it seems to go better for a while (no lags), but after a minute it starts again.

Download the app that kitt suggested: [You must login to view link]

Then check if the port 16000 udp is open.

Tell your friend to do the same.

What kitt said is that games tend to crash when playing with AI, not that you can't.

Anyway would be worth to test if you still have lag playing 1v1 with your friend (without AI). Also tell your friend to test if his port 16000 udp shows as open too.

I confirm that my friend has its 16000 udp port open , checking with the tool.
I am going to start a No-AI session with my mate and i will give you feedback.
