Hello guys,

my problem is the following:
I can spec games if I am in the room while the game starts, but not if I late join. The game starts, but in the single player menu a pop up opens "an error occured while trying to start the game".

I am using the following:
Windows 10 - a 64 Bit system
got an AMD FX-8800P Radeon R7, 12 Computer Cores 4c+8G - 2.1 GHz


Cant find any other thread about anything like my problem.

im not sure why you seeing a single player menu? do you have "start in single player" enabled?

No. Im just joining as a spectator in latejoin games. The automazied settings instantly deactivate single player, when I join a room or open one.
I dont see the menue. I think it is rather like AoE opens, tries to join, somehow cancels/or bugs and then pushes me to the Errormessage.After I klick the "okay"button in the errormessage i am in the sp lobby.

Screenshots in Attachement are in order. Today for the first time an error message appeared in the room and the game wasnt started at all.

do you have a anti-virus or a pc firewall activated? see if one or other is rejecting the connection should be some logs. cannt see why as you can watch/join, just not late join but worth a look

just the windows firewall.

even weirder, sometimes it works again. like 50-50 chance. and I even could late spectate a game, which showed me the error message, when opening AoC, by just retrying multiple times leaving/joining the game room.

Go to your lobby -> Create a room.

Then go to the room Settings -> Spectator Settings

Look for "Always start spectator server (not recommended)" if it's active, untick it to disable it.

Click ok and test again if you can spec.

It was disabled. I activated and disabled again, but nothing changed.
