Black Screen for 6 second game time before i can see

Game launches...I can hear a sound -- then i can hotkey vills...but my screen is black. FLASH
i can see the game now -- but we're 6 seconds game time in.

Is there anything I can do to fix this obvious competitive advantage given to my enemies?

Resolution is 1920x1080, same as regular desktop.
