Hello Anvil Members and Friends of the Anvil Community!

The following are the maps that will be available in the upcoming Anvil League Round 2 and Anvil Hidden Cup tournaments:
  • Arabia [Chrazini]
  • Gold Rush [ECL]
  • Acropolis [ECL]
  • Steppe [ECL]
  • Sinharaja [RediRodion]
  • Rainforest Basin [General Zuma]
  • Regicide Fortress [NAC 2]
  • Arena [ECL]
  • NSS Nomad [Chrazini - NSS]
  • Rift Island [ECL Africa]
  • Migration [SYNC 2017]
  • El Dorado [Hidden Cup 2]
  • African Waters [Chrazini - Z-Tournament]
  • Keep in mind additional changes and/or modifications might be made to some of these maps as is seen fit, strictly for balance purposes - so it's advised that you check the discord for updates.
  • The overall design of this collection was to include 3 categories of maps:
    1. Standard maps (Gold Rush, Arena, Acropolis)
    2. Common tournament maps (El Dorado, Rift Island, NSS Nomad)
    3. Member-scripted maps (Rainforest Basin (v3), African Water), Sinharaja (v3)
  • The AL_ prefix has been added to make it easier to find the maps in custom map drop-down in the voobly lobby - however, most of these maps are line-for-line replicas of scripts that were played in recent tournaments - so by no means does the AL prefix denote intellectual credit for any of these amazing maps - as such, I've also included in [brackets] which version of the maps I've selected for this pool. Keep in mind any maps with the ZR@ prefix will still have the prefix in front, as it is required for the map to seed properly.
  • The [ECL] versions have had the sling nerfs removed.
  • Arena [ECL] has been modified so that stone walls and gates have 1600 HP.
  • AL_Arabia is Chrazini's original take on the classic rms that features "two fair wood lines" close the the TC, but is otherwise slightly more open than the stock map.
  • Bloody Knoll is a map designed by General Zuma that is very similar to standard Arabia--with a few important differences. The first difference you will notice right off the bat is with TV placement, which sits on top of a knoll (somewhat similar to Acropolis) and is positioned right next to a patch of berries, as well as a few trees. This allows for some slightly unorthodox build orders that can skip lumber camp and/or mill in Dark Age. The woodlines are also placed in small clumps, making wood a priority in the map. Lastly, there are additional deer and other huntable animals scattered around the map for additional food. In essence, an open map with fairly standard rez placement that is tough to wall and encourages aggressive plays in 1v1.
  • African Waters is a cross-style map in which both players start in the middle of the map and each have access to 5 elephants for food--this map was featured heavily in Anvil League R1 and was also featured in Chrazini's Z-Tournament.
  • Sinharaja is a map designed by RediRodion which two players contest for a georgious jungle shrine on a hill in the center of the map. The outer edges of the map are jungle bog terrain which after being cut down can allow for dock placement. The map is otherwise standard resource and semi-open, allowing for standard arabia-style strategies.
  • NSS Nomad is an update by Chrazini of the classic AOE II map. In this version players begin with the standard 3 villagers (except with Maya and Chinese) in addition to a horse (not a scout) with can be used to find resources. Instead of sheep the chief early game resource are solitary turkeys which are event distributed across the map, as well as boars and deep fish tiles around the island.
  • Rift Island is a water map that was featured in the ECL Africa stage as well as a few recent showmatches. The map can be played in multiple ways: around the island are plentiful deep fish which can be collected to provide an abundant economy--however, there are also zebra in the middle of the map which can provide hunt to fuel early game aggression. Ships can move on the middle part of the map setting the stage for epic late game battles between land and naval units.
  • The Anvil Map Pack is an meant to be organic. Maps will rotate in and out over time as the competitive AOEII scene continues to change shape. As such, your feedback is massively important in keeping this map pool as relevant and robust as possible.
