If I buy AOE II Retired in Steam will it work here?

My aoe2 converted version of DE did not work properly, if I buy the retired version of AOE II in steam could I use it here?

You need Age of Empires II 2013 in order to play on Voobly, you must buy that in Steam.

Or
Instal the game with AOK AOC CD's
