As I am used to particular hotkeys from AOM EE, I wanted to set a couple of them in the Voobly version. I read everywhere online to create the file user.cfg and set hotkeys such as

map ("tab", "game", "uiToggleBuildingQueue")

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work for me. My current user.cfg file is:

map ("tab", "game", "uiToggleBuildingQueue")
map ("shift-tab", "game", "strategicMap")
xres=1920
yres=1080

Strangely, the resolution commands do work, so I think the path (programx86/msgames/aom/startup) is correct and Voobly recognizes it. Also, I read in the vooblylaunch2.txt file that the user.cfg file is found.

Nevertheless, no hotkey changes are made. I also noticed certain mods seem to negate some settings in user.cfg, but hotkeys should be fine right? I have also tried to delete mods but still the hotkeys are not working. Am I missing something here? Help would be greatly appreciated as the autoqueue hotkey is really nice.

Hi J0pa,

Thank you for contacting us and I'm sorry to hear you are having problems setting up your hotkeys. Hotkey files are commonly stored here: "C:\Users\%username%\Documents\My Games\Age of Mythology\startup". The configuration files in your documents folder has priority over the ones in the game folder, so you want to place your files here.

The codes themselves look fine on surface inspection, although I'm not sure if the tab key can be used. I can imagine this key is off limits as it is in many other games. Please try if your hotkeys work when you use another key.

Another thing you can try is saving your file as "user.con" instead of "user.cfg". The .con extension is sometimes used as well when saving a hotkey configuration file for Age of Mythology. I hope this helps and please let me know if you need any further assistance.

Thank you for the reply! Although I had tried both options already, I never tried both of them together. So in summary, it seems you have to use the user.con file for hotkeys, and some keys cannot be used such as 'Tab'. The resolution still needs to be in user.cfg. It works now, thank you for the suggestion and support!
