Cant launch the game through Voobly. Purchased the game through Steam, not sure how to resolve. Any help would be really appreciated, thanks!

Please provide a screenshot of the error message and paste us the results of the game diagnostics (access the game diagnostics tools from the menu in a game lobby).

[You must login to view link]
Quote:
1) Close Voobly + Uninstall Age of Mythology Extended Edition on Steam.
2) Delete the Age of Mythology folder. (C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Age of Mythology).
3) Install Age of Mythology Extended Edition on Steam and start the game once.
4) Install the Compatibility Patch.
5) Open Voobly and join the AOT Main Lobby.
6) The game diagnostics will now prompt you to locate the Age of Mythology executable. Please point the diagnostics to this file: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Age of Mythology\aomx.exe
7) Restart Voobly and now you should be able to play Age of Mythology on Voobly

Did you download the compatibility patch and run it?

Try disabling Windows Defender temporary, as it probably blocked the download of the missing EXE file.

Same issue. The diagnostics shows that the execution file is still in my steam folder, which was what I had initially inputted when I logged in for the first time. How can I change this?

It seems you have directed Voobly to the wrong directory. Please do the following steps to resolve the issue.

1) Close both Voobly and Steam.
2) Rename the Steam folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam) to Steam2.
3) Open Voobly and join the AOT Main Lobby.
4) The game diagnostics will now prompt you to locate the Age of Mythology executable. Please point the diagnostics to this file: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Age of Mythology\aomx.exe
5) Restart Voobly and now you should be able to play Age of Mythology on Voobly.
6) Rename the Steam2 folder back to Steam. Basically: undo step 2.

Ran the process a few more times and was able to choose a new file path, but the AoMX file was invalid. When I check the AoM folder within Microsoft Games folder, it says the AomX file is 0 KB.

Download and extract to the AOMT folder in Program Files.
