Hi,

I just open Voobly, some updates that worked, but after this, I have this problem now:

I open Voobly,

- Messenger and All wanted Voobly lobby's open.
- a window pop-up comes with downloading update (att Voobly1)
- after a few seconds the pop-up change to lost connection to server (could not find game installation directory) (att Voobly2)
- When it reconnects, 2 pop-up's with downloading update 100% (att Voobly3) and this don't change unless I cancel them.

Every time I restart Voobly, this happen now... even after restarting pc.

The problem can be solved by manually recreating the Voobly Mod folder and its three subdirectories.
[You must login to view link]

Rename the existing folder and then join a lobby and wait for all downloads to complete.

But in the article you forgot to say that you must rename the Voobly Mods folder to something else first...

First I did all in the article, and then copy/paste all mods from the old folder to the new one, that didn't helped... it resulted in same problem...

Then I did again and reinstalled every mod from the Voobly website (searched google).

It was alot of work because I have lot's of mods, but now it works again :)

Tx.

PS: What can be the reason why this happened?
3 people today told me they had same problem after last update...

Were you able to figure out which mod is affected? And did you copy back any files from the old Voobly Mods folder?

If you see people complaining, please give them this link:

They just have to create the empty folders and rename the original folder before doing this. Then enter a game lobby and wait for the downloads to complete, before doing anything.

No,

First time I copy all (except the auto downloads) from the old mods folder, but that give me the same bad result.

Second time I copy none from the old mods folder, downloaded them all again from Voobly and the problem was fixed...

Yeah, that's the actual fix. Thank for confirming that this fixed the issue. :)
You must re-download all mods, never copy any files from the old folder.

Is it some kind of file permission issue?

There are multiple issues that can cause this behavior. People cancelling updates that moment the package is being extracted, people with a disabled User Account Control, people who have installed their game inside C:\Users\ and people that crash the client, when the AV is freezing the client to scan the downloaded package. After all, Windows is a pain in the arse. lol

We could completely change how updates are being downloaded and applied, but we somehow also have to manage, that Windows 7 up to Windows 11 are altogether supported -- so newer technologies, that the above problems could never occur, cannot be used, else you lock out players with older operating systems.

I'm having this for over a year now, but since the recent update, this bug happens 3x in a row. I have 3 failed update windows. Retry just makes it go on like forever, so I just cancel them. The game works fine, they just re-appear after every login.

If I join a lobby, before canceling, the cliënt will freeze.

Follow the article above and delete all sub folders besides the three one in AOC. Then enter an AOC lobby and wait for the download to complete. That should do the trick.

Found it, the problem should be solved now. :)

The cause was the Tech Tree 1.6 UI mod where some settings have not been applied correctly. I fixed it and now the download loop is gone!
