RCB Tourney Asap or it will die
MCB Store tourney as well
Some ideas and settings please??
not sure if 1v1 or 2v2 would be better, depends how many ppl i guess,
needs to be same civ, diff civ per round, use most popular map rcb gold v 2011 OR a total random one so none barely know it, like 10th legion cb...
Some ideas and settings please??
First of all, hardly anyone plays 1v1 RCB and a tournament was done not so long ago in this so if a tournament were to be held it should be either some sort of team format or ffa. I was trying to get people to discuss a possible ffa tournament in the tournament forum tab in AoC but few responded. After thinking it over I think this'd be the best:
Here's my idea for a RCB ffa tournament:
My idea is to have set civs w/a set arrangement along with each participant being each civ 1x in each round. However, with 8 people per game that'd be 8 games per person in the first round which may be a little much so an easier way to go about it would be 18 civs/3 => 6 civs/players each round with three rounds. This way all civs are covered so it would more or less assess all around RCB ffa skill. Top three wins from each set of games (i.e. 6 games with 6 people) go on to the next round and if there's a tie there could be some sort of tiebreaker extra round.
---First round (possible arrangement)
1. Aztecs
2. Mayans
3. Saracens
4. Chinese
5. Celts
6. Mongols
---Second round (possible arrangement)
1. Koreans
2. Japs
3. Huns
4. Franks
5. Spanish
6. Teuts
---Final Round (possible arrangement)
1. Vikings
2. Persians
3. Huns
4. Byzantines
5. Turks
6. Goths
Tournament might need to be a weekend type deal...depends on how many people sign up though.
Map Suggestion: RCB Gold 2011 v2 (most commonly played ffa map atm) or RCB Gold Shadow (new version that I'll be done with in a couple weeks that tries to incorporate more balance) or RCB Gold 2012 (newer version by isthismyname from 2011 v2 that's waiting to be rated...I forgot what he changed)
But in part I agree with you, a RCB 1v1 event would only work if we get a decent version for that purpose, the current one is totally unbalanced. Tom (ViCiouS_RaggingHippo) and I made an attempt to create a 1v1 version by changing the players spots (we made it p1 vs p5) however it was never rated, at least not the fixed version. I still have it somewhere in my computer if someone is interested on taking a look at it...
About your FFA tournament... no commments
the idea is fine...
but shouldnt we try to popularize the map?
rarely do i see 4-5 rooms being hosted of this map

Wouldn't a tournament popularize it? Plus, w/the layout above it's fairly predictable what people would do initially to get the game started. Possibly a guide could be made for the first round to get more people into the tournament. You're right that rarely do you see 4-5 games that you can join because most of them fill up fast once they get 3-4 people in them.
What do you think of the civs in the rounds above?
it would be mayhem and fail miserably, u must remember 3/4 of voobly have an iq under 50

hahaha agreed
once again you made me laugh Gary

lol. Yeah right. It absolutely wouldn't be mayhem. Actually if you have set civs it'd be quite predictable...at least initially. Mayhem sounds a lot more fun than the dull predictability you earn for so much though which is why RCB ffa is appealing to me. However, this is why you'd have set civs and each player each civ 1x; to offset unpredictability and aim for greater balance as much as possible.
About the IQ comment...like I said above a guide could be made for the first round games to encourage more participants.
Depending on version, pick Henries or Magnes and have fun making a crazy middle fight. If you think your civilization can counter these initial heroes, imp + full castles and feed yourself from the noob next to you.
As ppl's IQ is under 50, I advice not to try going right for heroes such as subo, martels for obvious reasons ahaha.
But if you really want to be an amazing FFA player, you're allowed to forget everything i said above and just follow a simple rule: team with your enemies and kill the top score player. 4v1, 5v1 might be enough. Hide your heroes and pretend you're a **** (i guess you don't need to pretend, u do that by being urself xD).
Another useful tip: try not to play with your main account, if you're winning people will either team against you, regardless your position in the score, or make the game crash.
PS: u gotta realise that the RCB community is one of the most sympathetic ever. Say "Hi" randomly to a RCB player as an educated person and he might answer you: PINCHE PUTO!!! (****ing asshole)
Have fun
thats why it wont work............
