Yearly ladders would spark a lot of interest imo and get rid of a lot of these point trading wannabes.

I think diablo 2 had such a good ladder system in place by removing everyone on a yearly basis and putting them into a "non-ladder" system. A similar thing on voobly would drive a lot of competition toward competing for the top ladder spot all over again by removing all the old ratings.

A lot of players moan about the fact we have a lot of good players high in the ladder system that just camp those ratings and/or abuse the clan rating parts to boost their overall rating higher and higher. I mean, look at RM rating ladder, let alone DM, it's just insane with people in the 3k+ rating mark. Would you have seen this on MSNZone?

All the old ladder people would be taken as a snapshot in time and put in a hall of fame and restart it all. This whole ratings existing for 5 years is a bit meh imo

You could also tie in tournaments into a new ladder by giving out points to the winners and runners up, so people who deserve to be at the top of ladder not by games played but by genuine skill would be boosted up into their rightful places. Screw money, people are motivated on this game by points. All know that. Remove points and keep cash, people will quit. Keep points and remove cash, people carry on as they always have.

Just an idea:

+75 pts for 1st
+50 pts for 2nd
+25 pts for 3rd
+5 points for runners up
+1 point for all entrants

rinse and repeat across all the CS/DM/RM and it will have popularity im sure

This should be implemented in both CS and DM imo.

i was thinking this for a long time now...
top 50 is held by 10 players orso who are idle most of the time.
so i would reset idle players being idle after a month (maybe two). all rest after six months.
