My opinion...
1v1 CBA announcement was not handled properly.
Since it has been announced previously it should be hosted. Especially if Zanchy is willing to help host it.
Efkan its not your decision to make whether the tournament happens or not.
As I posted elsewhere we need a written guideline to follow for selecting tournaments and when they occur. I see Taff has already started one so thats good.
Had some errors with the CBF... camping rules needed to be more defined. Definitely had some camping abuse during parts of the tournament.
Need some type of time limit so one side is not waiting in the final and the other still in the 2nd/3rd round.

I don't believe for a second that 2v2 is in more demand than 1v1, if we hosted CBA 1v1 for the first week and CBA 2v2 for the second week I would go all in on the 1v1 having more players.

This whole process definitely needs some guidelines.

Charlie I agree we need more thought on camping / time limits / save chapter recordings. CBF 2v2 had a good turnout but was a bloody mare to control it all, thanks mate for helping out.

I also agree that CBA 1v1 is over due.

We have had loads of CBA 2v2 types of events and even the league, so CBA 1v1 should happen before a CBA 2v2 in my opinion.

The CBA 1v1 was done wrong though Gary, just too rushed mate and I know it's great being able to get them going but let's just step back a sec ok.

Why don't we look at making the CBA 1v1 a real big event. Make it premium rather than just another shield weekend.

Your welcome was interesting to see what you go threw on tourney weekends. Was fun watching the final game.

Definitely was an issue. That 2nd round game should have been ended sooner. Clearly camp abuse but its a mistake we can fix next time we do a map like that.

I share an opinion with Masta on this I believe. Basicly I think most of the tournaments hosted should be team tournaments and maybe once a month or every other month there should be some sort of Masters tournament which will be in 1v1 format. What I would do personally is cancel the tournament coming up on the 11th. Push it back into April and host it as the major event for that month. Point rewards/Membership rewards/Badges could all be rewards. Plus you could give it the proper advertising it deserves. Whether I like it or not CBA is the most popular map on Voobly and a 1v1 tournament will draw a-lot of players. Could do standard civs like mongols or celts bo1 in the early rounds and depending on time make the last few rounds bo3 with different civ match ups.

I really don't see a noticeable difference in field sizes compairing 1v1's to team games.
Smosh 3v3 had 21 teams.
I think Smosh 1v1 would probably do less than 63 players. Im not sure though.
Same for CBF 26 games i dunno if 1v1 would get 52 players.

Personally I just prefer team game modes as opposed to 1v1. I don't think im in the minority either. Certain maps have much better game play 1v1... as certain maps have better gameplay in teams. I enjoy 18+ CBA team games but don't care for the game type 1v1. I support 1v1 tournaments but I also support team game tournaments and find them more enjoyable.

I also think there is plenty of room for both. If VCOM works we can have so many different type of formats and will regularly have maps repeating. I think CBA for instance could alternate from 4v4 random/2v2 same/1v1 same regularly.

In this case: Charlie arguing for team tournies, well hes a renowned team player and Damien arguing for 1v1s is also biased.

Here are the facts:

We got 60 players for smosh 3v3.

There were 34 in the last 1v1 tournament.

I don't dispute the fact there are more people on voobly who prefer team games than those who prefer 1v1 games, I just think people who play 1v1 are more competitive players who are more likely to enter tournaments. We will have to agree to disagree, obviously maps like Smosh and CB's are going to attract more players than other maps regardless of whether it's teams or 1v1.

Team tournaments shouldn't outnumber 1v1 tournaments more than 2:1 though, and tournaments shouldn't be hosted every week - that is just an overload.
