1v1 Celt/Japanese/Mongol - Bo3 (mirror would work here)
2v2 Set civs- (bo3) - Mirror can work since would be same civs too
2v2v2v2 (set civs) -Bo5 or whatever best option we can choose. Point system- Winner gets certain amount of points, teams with highest points advance next rounds.
^examples..
Remember map on 2v2v2v2 can crash a bit more than on 1v1's or 2v2's. Also the rules would change for 1v1/2v2/2v2v2v2 depending on your options. Will try and make this the most fair and enjoyable tournament we can possibly make. Please leave your vote on the poll and suggest civs for it. Post!
Also, make sure you tell us what version of map you want. RCB 2011 v4. RCB 2012/13/14/15 ETC RCB AUTO/RCB CLASSIC/10TH LEGION RCB and Spots. p1/p2 v p3/p4 etc.
Btw Mirror civilization can bring more fun to the tourney since we might be able to have more civs=different strategies for every1=more fun.

anything is possible if its needed for balance or fairness
I also wouldn't do best of 5 for 2v2v2v2 games. Bo3 would be fine imo.
If it's Bo1, colors will be an issue.
although it'd be a **** to work out but if people want it I say give it to em'
Personally I'd love a ffa tournament more and talked about doing one years ago: http://www.voobly.com/forum/thread/73166
I probably won't play if it's mirror civs due to the issues that one guy mentioned in the previous thread and of course issues I mentioned:
Set civs is the way to go.
this
Set civs...
P1 - Aztecs
P2 - Mayans
P3 - Saracens
P4 - Chinese
P5 - Celts
P6 - Mongols
P7 - Japs
P8 - Koreans
Or something very similar
P1 will go for charlemagne since it does well against koreans but will have a hard time getting it since koreans are strong in the beginning. Then later in game Koreans can utilize range more against p1/p2 to do well along with utilizing p7 to help.
P2 will probably try for robin, and get it as long as they get quick razes in mid, which is good against saracens but only if you have pop. P1 Aztec Charlemagne also beats Mamelukes.
P3 will go imperial and/or villager route. Based on the civs I'd go villager to make some cav archers and possibly heavy camels along with mamelukes.
P4 will be forced to go instant imperial asap against celts since celts will also go instant imperial.
P5 will go instant imperial and maybe martel later if they play well garnering enough food. Another decent option would be beli.
P6 will go imperial straight away and/or villager and later on will most likely go subo unless they're doing really well in which case they may try for mid but that'd be really risky. If they push their luck and go higher than subo they may get rushed and die but the mongol castles do well.
P7 Japs will probably go instant imperial and then if I was P7 in this game I'd go instant robin since it'd probably take too long to get enough kills for martel/subo and plus imp robin, pop permitting, will beat mongols.
P8 will need to go imperial. If they try getting 20 razes and then going instant subo they could easily die from p1 rushing.
....
The beginning/initial part of the game would be fairly even and who wins would depend on later game skills.

Same civs/Mirrors civs will be pretty fun.

1vs1 uses an higher skill in order to win, so what's the problem if the more skilled team wins? This a tourney where you have to reward the most skillful guys and not a hide and seek game that is focused on race to the food/noobs!!!!
The level of micro in a mirrored civ team game would be equivalent to 1v1 more or less but that's stupid because there'd be an atypical amount of micro compared to most team games. Why should the tournament be different than what's normally played? There'd be a lot less strategizing in a mirrored civ game too since people would be going for the same buys. RCB skill nowadays in team and ffa is all about macro and minimal micro combined with foresight (i.e. needing to be able to beat people around you).
I made that list of civs like 2 years ago when I wasn't as good at RCB. Replace p7 with a different civ and it's probably fine.
On second thought I don't know what I was thinking when I said p6 will go instant robin. They'll be forced to go imperial against japs (if it is japs). Japs probably shouldn't be there since they're the best civ in 2011 period. Maybe teuts could go there but they'd be forced to go beli most likely. Brits may be a decent choice there.
