VCOM Tournament Rules and Code of Conduct

Contents:

Introduction
The Voobly Committee (VCOM) is a group of players that give up their free time to contribute to the community. The first and foremost responsibility of VCOM is creating and advertising tournaments for other players. Our goal is for you, the average voobly player, to have a good time playing in tournaments. In order to ensure that we will outline the rules.

Tournament Rules

General Rules

Host Rights

The tournament host or committee has full authority over their event. A VCOM admin may intervene if requested by a player but if you are found to have no grounds for complaint, you may be judged as being disruptive in your behaviour.

Sign-Ups

The tournament host(s) define the rules for signing up to a tournament. If they choose to extend a deadline or add a team after the deadline then they are fully within their rights to do so. However, you the player also have rights relating to sign-ups
  • If you have signed up with a team, they cannot switch teams or players without informing you well in advance of the deadline.
  • If players who have signed up in your team switch without informing you in good time, they will be excluded from the event.
  • Applicable only to sign-ups on the night. If a player who has signed up with you has left the lobby for a period of time, you may replace him.

Connection Issues

If you are having problems with your connection to voobly you must solve these issues.
In the case of extreme lag, you must solve it or be disqualified. We don't like to do this but its not fair to other players to deal with very bad lag.

If a player disconnects, the tournament council will review the game.
  • If the player who disconnected is obviously going to lose, the game will be forfeited and the winning team will be awarded the win.
  • If the player who disconnected is obviously winning, the game will be replayed. If the game is tied and no winner/loser can be shown, the game will be replayed.
  • If the same player disconnects twice in the same matchup, their team will forfeit and the other team will progress to the next round.

AoC Custom Scenario Rules

Camping

Camping is defined as a player playing ultra defensive in a map where this gives them an advantage. Eg. In CBA a player will stay at their gates and not come out to attack, allowing them to reinforce faster. If a map has a strong anti-camp mechanic this rule may be discarded by the tournament host(s). Eg. Smosh has a fast attack power-up in the centre of the map and camping is detrimental to the players.

Camping is considered bad practice by most players. First offense means the game must be replayed. The second offense results in disqualification. In the case of a third offense you will receive a one tournament ban for the game type you camped in.

Deleting Razings

Deleting razing refers only to maps with a reward for destroying a building. This is banned in any blood map. Deleting a building or partially built building is only allowed in the following circumstances for CBA:
  • It is inside your or your allies base, it has more than 25% health and there are no enemy units within range to hit it.
  • It is in the main map but it is not on the frontline of buildings, it has more than 50% health and there are no enemy units near it.
  • You or your team have a significant number of units fighting in front of the building, it is blocking the way and highly unlikely to be destroyed.

General Map Violations

It is the right of the tournament host(s) to define the rules relating to a certain map. Eg. The host may insist that you delete a wall in Germs Blood 1v1.

VCOM Code of Conduct

Disruptive Behaviour

If you are direspectful to the tournament host(s) you can be excluded from the event. We don't expect you to worship us, but remember that we are doing something for you in our free time and we do not need you complaining constantly.

The same applies to insulting fellow competitors. We don't mind good natured rivalry, but when things get out of hand we have to act. If you have a grievance with a player then take it up with the host in private. Do not resort to petty namecalling. Excessive use of profanity and personal insults will result in disciplinary action.

If you delay the tournament by refusing to accept a loss then you will be seen as disrupting the tournament. This does not apply to a player who is calm and has a legitimate concern.

Disciplinary Action

Minor Offenses

In the case of simple offenses that result in a bad atmosphere in the tournament lobby we will disqualify the offenders. In certain cases we may give a tournament ban for their actions. Only a VCOM Admin can give a tournament ban.

Serious Offenses

If you violate the voobly code of conduct you will be punished under that by regular voobly moderators.

Right of Appeal

All players have the right to appeal a tournament ban. Simply contact a different VCOM admin and outline the situation to them. If you are found to be appealing frivolously then you will receive a longer ban. Make sure you have a good argument before appealing.

I'd like this to be completed and maybe try to broaden it to include all games covered by VCOM.

RM specific stuff for starters. Anything else depends on other members being active.

Update: talked to Taff few days ago and he said that we should stick to CS hosting. Yet you mentioned stuff for starters which brings us to NPL. Talked to MiCh as well and she told me that we should hold on to that cause it's nearly impossible to check up on everyone that would sign-up for a future npl event.

If anything changes/you got anything new i'll set my self the RM section.

VCOM is best served to 3 areas in my opinion.

Custom Scenario - NPL - AOK

Do those 3 things with all of your concentrated efforts and VCOM will make a difference.

Rm is different than those 3 areas. Lots of cash involved in their tourneys which we cannot afford atm.
So what taff said i guess is stick to them until we can make them more prestigious.

There are already too many tournaments (1v1/TG) going on in RM at the moment that I dont think enough players would/could pay attention.
