IPv6 firewall rule needed?

Hi,

Lately if I join a room, I have to join a few times before I am not fp anymore to the others, I have port 16000 UDP open in "IPv4 Firewall & port forwarding" of my router, I had never problems before and didn't change something...

Now I am wondering, maybe Voobly is using IPv6 in the lobby's?
If so, i have to forward UDP port 16000 in "IPv6 Firewall & rules" I guess, and I have no idea how to do that, it seems more difficult...

So, first question is, is it needed to forward UDP 16000 also for ipv6 now?
If so, then how?

If I want to add IPv6 rule, i must do these things:
- name rule (np i guess)
- rule on top or below (would be the first rule, so makes no difference i guess)
- Protocol ( I can choose TCP,UDP, TCP&UDP, ICMPv6, ESP, AH, GRE, EPv6ENCAP, IPv4ENCAP, IPv6FRAG, L2TP, ANY) ( I guess it's UDP)

- Source (Host, CIDR prefix, any) ??? no idea
- IP-adres (8 blocks open, my IP ?
- Port of range (16000 i guess ???? )

- Destination (Host or LAN) ???
- IP-adress (8 blocks open, my IP again or voobly IP or ????)
Port of range (16000 again i guess ??? )

- Mode (Block, accept, drop) ????

Another thing, with IPV4, I had to use local IP-adres (192.168.0.xxx), it was not possible to use my real IP because I can't change the 192.168.0.
With IPv6 it looks like I can add any IP IPv6 adress, but I guess it must also be the local one?

Sorry, I don't understand much about this stuff ^^

Grts

I did try network diagnostics, this was the result...

Starting networking diagnostics...

Your local network port (UDP) is 16000. All game traffic is routed through this port. This can be changed in "Settings" -> "NAT Traversal".

Attempting to connect to 3 test servers. This will take around a minute to complete...

Received data from 'server 2' through port 1024 (this is your WAN or router port)
Received data from 'server 1' through port 1024 (this is your WAN or router port)
Received data from 'server 3' through port 1024 (this is your WAN or router port)
14 seconds left.
9 seconds left.
4 seconds left.

Test Result: Not Forwarded
Network Health: Warnings found but probably OK
Recommended Action: if you experience networking problems such fast proxy then port forwarding is recommended. The only port you need to forward is UDP port 16000 on Voobly you do NOT need the direct play ports 2300-2400 and 47624.
Details: You were able to receive traffic on the same port from all the servers, however, you were not able to receive data on the port configured in the Voobly client settings. It is recommended you forward this port in your router to the PC you use to play.

I know I have port 16000 UDP set in voobly options, and it's forwarded on my router (see picture, 192.168.0.142 is active and my pc is using that one)

hi
turn off ipv6 at the router so only ipv4 can be used. if your router does not support that, there is no need to alter the router f/wall [unless you want to] its the pc firewall and anti-virus that need to allow voobly/game.

you could use your WAN ip if your isp allotes it to you, usually for a price.

Tx Kitt, but...

I changed nothing, and I just try Network diagnostics again, and now i get perfect results...

So, why is there a problem today, tomorrow no problem, and the day after a problem again?
I have both Voobly and conquerors in exceptions of windows firewall and windows defender, and malwarebytes...

The only reason I can imagine is that Voobly rooms sometimes use ipv6, and, if that's true, I have not my UDP port 16000 forwarded...

I found explanation ( In Dutch) about how to set up a rule in ipv6:
[You must login to view link]

Only problem is, I need Source as Host (ipv6 adress from Voobly rooms i guess), or Source as CIDRprefix (Subnet of adresses). I can use the 3the option any for testing 1 time when network diagnostics say again it's not good, but I can't use that option forever because then the port is open for the whole internet...

I can't turn off ipv6.

So... can you give me ipv6 adress (or CIDRprefix subnet) that Voobly uses so I can try this out when network diagnostics say my port is not forwarded again?

or ???? ( I am not a specialist in this stuff, only was searching for info long time today, and in help files of my isp I can read it's possible i need to forward ports in ipv6 for online gaming)

hi
what ever you connect with is presumably what it uses. the vast majority of your log ins are ipv4.
you dont a router f/wall rule for anything. you can find the ipv6 ip from following this:
http://www.voobly.com/pages/view/134
dhcp reservation and step1. then use that in the router p/forward if it supports ipv6. do you turn your router off at all?

I need some time for this kitt ^^

like I say before, my knowledge of these things is not much, give me 1 or 2 days ;)

ty

(I didn't read it yet, but it's just difficult for me because i had to forward port 16000 for ipv4 and not for ipv6, it all looks like chinese to me, and i don't know chinese language ^^)

hi
lol
we are all going to have to have to learn ipv6.
as i said your main log in ipv4 which you are set up for. so ignore ipv6 just re-log in when diagnostic shows other than 16000.
recheck pages on your router to see if you can disable ipv6.
