when i start the game with Voobly i get a black screen with an arrow that i can still controll, but nothing else.

I have installed the game.

removed any firewall or antivirus that is active.

i have uppdated the AOM files for the game.

i have uppdated the latest age of mythology uppdate from Voobly.

i have acctivated Directplay in the controllpanel

Apparently windows 10 doesnt support safedisc and it's why your original CD game is not working in Windows 10, more info:

you can try run the game in safe-mode and see if it solves the problem:

You need to add the following line:
xres=640 +noSound +noIntroCinematics bpp=16 +window +lowend +terrainHalfDensity +lowPoly -waterbump skipMipMapLevels=1 graphicDetail=2 to your game .exe shortcut properties section.
To find out which .exe file that voobly is using you can find out what it is by running the Game Diagnostics tool in the game lobby that you are playing in , click on Options in the top left of the lobby and then select Game diagnostics.
Example to add the line i posted earlier :
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Age of Mythology\aom.exe" xres=640 +noSound +noIntroCinematics bpp=16 +window +lowend +terrainHalfDensity +lowPoly -waterbump skipMipMapLevels=1 graphicDetail=2
this is added by right clicking the .exe file -properties -shortcut tab -Click the Target box, press END on keyboard , press SPACEBAR, and then type the parameter (in this case xres=640 +noSound +noIntroCinematics bpp=16 +window +lowend +terrainHalfDensity +lowPoly -waterbump skipMipMapLevels=1 graphicDetail=2 )
Once you add these parameters then launch the game via voobly in single player mode.

The game should start with lowered resolution and probably solve that black screen.
Apart from that run Windows update and make sure all updates are installed especially any updated Video card drivers.

Assuming that you installed your game in its default directory, the game should be installed in:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Age of Mythology

You should also have a shortcut to your desktop.

Right click the shortcut file --> Go to properties
You should see a target field that would probably have something like "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Age of Mythology\aom.exe"
You need to change this target to:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Age of Mythology\aom.exe" xres=640 +noSound +noIntroCinematics bpp=16 +window +lowend +terrainHalfDensity +lowPoly -waterbump skipMipMapLevels=1 graphicDetail=2

Once that is done, launch the game offline and manually adjust your resolution to your desktop supported resolution and it should work fine thereafter.

EDIT:

Don't forget to change the game path in target to whatever path you installed your game in. The part that I have highlighted in bold must match your installation path.

i inserted the information in the shortcut like you said, once with +- signs and once without.

i started the game in "start at single player menu" in Voobly

just for a second i see the age of mythology image.... and then the same black screen with the arrow

Did you do this?

The game needs to work offline before you get into Voobly
