Hey guys,

I have tried to get AoE to work with Voobly for quite some time now. But no matter what I do, when I start the game I get this nasty error message:

Maybe someone here has an idea how to fix it.

Please ensure that your game room settings are exactly like this:
[You must login to view link]
You can verify this by hosting a game room in any lobby

If it still does not work, try running the game offline to see if it works. Your game must be fully functional offline before you step into Voobly. If it does not, a clean install of your game should help.

I did a clean install with the compatibility patch guide I found in the knowledge base after you posted it.

Now everything seems to work fine.

If I had to guess, the problem might have been that my HD game was still in German, even though I switched to an English Steam installation a couple of years ago.
Or my HD install was just old and messed up.
