And we actually hoped it‘s been fixed now. Ugh. But at least a different error this time, I will forward this to Torm again. Thanks for the logs, kwin! :)

Just keep posting, as there is more than one issue causing those crashes. One is already fixed, caused by non-unicode characters. The second cause has been found, but we are still struggling on how to reproduce it. Thanks for your help!

On question re this, are you getting an “Voobly has stopped responding” error or does it still simply close (silently)?

Host launch game, all Voobly windows close immediately.
Only window left is the AOE game window that is trying to make a game and says unable to join after a minute...
... No error messages...

That was very helpful, kwin. We now need the logs of other players to confirm our theory, in order to release a fix. If anyone could please upload the Voobly.txt after it crashes BEFORE restarting the Voobly client again. Thanks.

Hi,

Today I played long time without crash, after 4-5-6 hours i had crash (same stuff, host launched, all windows closed except the aoe window)
I had crash while host launched, also another player had same crash at the same time...

Edit: strange, several hours no crash, now almost all players in our room get crash...
coincidence or something happened ?

Two issues are causing those crashing:
  • First issue will be fixed with 2.5.7.2, but must be tested first, whether it is causing any other problems
  • Second issue will be fixed with 2.5.7.3 if previous fix in 2.5.7.2 is working as expected

Hi,

I played 7-8 hours today, no standard crash happened (i mean, while host launch all close), so it looks like that one is solved...

But, after playing 7-8 hours without crash, I just had a new kind of crash...

I was online with 2 accounts at the same time.
I finished a game, at the moment I clicked to come back to Voobly (after statistics I hit quit aoe), at that exact moment all Voobly windows closed again...
This is new for me, first time this happen.

The voobly.txt files are from before logging on to Voobly again.
no minidump files...

hi,

I was playing 4v4 game but i was already resumed back to lobby...
Someone comes in the room as spectator and says 9, result was that all my Voobly windows closed at the same time and my aoe game stuck...
I took files before starting Voobly again.
no minidump files

Grts

Hmm.... Are you playing taunts on client? Could you please temporary disable this in your Voobly settings and confirm, that those crashes no longer occur? Thanks. :)

No, i was playing a game in a voobly room.
After game was launched I resumed back to lobby so I can see if all 8 were still in the game room.
Game started and after x min, a friend called Xmen_ came into the room as spectator and he says "9" (as spectator)
Because I was resumed back to lobby, i hear this, and I see all my Voobly windows disapearing, and the game stopped (stuck).
For me this is easy to see because I use 2 screen, left is for AOE and right is for all those Voobly windows...
I don't know if that taunt was the reason of the crash, I just try to say what happened...
It was just 1 crash, so not the end of the world...

For me all the crashes have stopped without me changing anything -as far as I remember-.
Thank you to Voobly development team, now it works very consistently!!
