Thanks chris for your update.
I tested it out exactly with the option "start in single player menu" in your print screen but its not working.
The main point is the spec server/the fast speed, as the others said as well. There is no fast speed to watch.
If i pick the option "start in single player menu" mod 1.5 and patch 1.5 then there are no recorded games available to watch, its simply an empty list.
Why can the "spec server always on" option not simply brought back, as it was before?
thank you

Then you copied the recorded game file to the wrong directory. Certain game mods do have their own scenario directory, please check the appropriate sub-folder in the Voobly Mods directory.

As already mentioned in other posts, this will be fixed with the next Client Update.

It's Working Guys. Jus start the game as a single player. and don't Select Record to watch from Voobly panel but from the game.

It works for me if i select start as single game option in game room.
But "Watch Recording" tab in game room is useless for me.
It is no need to select one record from "Watch Recording" tab in game room.

Okay I think I've got this now for the starting game in single player mode.

Here's the steps to follow to watch a game in fast recording just like you've always done!

1) At the top of the browser (in the game room) is tabs for FILE | GAME | HELP select Game and ensure 'Start at single player menu is checked.'

2) Under the same Game tab , from the drop menu select Direct X and UNCHECK start in window mode.

3) DO NOT SELECT A RECORDED GAME, if you have the game loaded up UNLOAD IT, and just click the green Launch button (as if you were starting a new game) and this will load your AOC.exe from your desktop

4) when AOC loads from your desktop you are now in the single player menu. This is exactly the same menu you see when you play offline and open up your AOE/AOC game from your pc.

5) Select the single Player menu from this screen and the menu options will load up, then just select the recording you want to watch, and YES it is in fast speed when you move the speed arrows!

Ive tried it with several games now and it works perfectly.

If you watch an older game make sure the correct game settings for that game are selected in the game room (mods/patch/rated etc)

Some custom games / maps may need some additional steps to be taken to work; some may not even work this way, but you can try following the advice from Chris @ voobly in this post:

It means don't launch the watch recording mode from the game room. Just launch in single player and load the recording from there. It's irrelevant if it was a single player or multiplayer game, it will work.

All the videos in the youtube channel are done this way:

You do this:
[You must login to view link]

... and launch. Then you load the recorded game file from inside the game. Fast forward will now work.

instead of doing this:

fyi: I tested out the single player mode for the last week, and I really could fast forward (but u have to deselect the watch record option in the room).
I noted that when I minize the aoe2 window the rec game doesnt continue to run, its on pause, when i get back to the game it continues to run. Previously the reg game just continued while u minimized and u had to manually pause to stop. Both are fine indeed.
A very few times the record crashed somewhere in the middle of the game, but it works overall.

Why has the aoe 2 offline mode been disabled or made incompatible? its already a long while ago but I used to watch rec games independently of voobly. Nowadays, in offline aoe 2 conquerors, the game immediately crashes, no matter if I let it run fast or normal speed.

What is the AoE II Offline Mode for you?
