Right, aimed at mod members among us really,

I want to host a tournament for CBA 1v1, we haven't had one in ages and frankly , imo it would be a good idea and some fun. I'm willing to help run it all, post it etc... and obviously, we would need to see how many sign ups we get (rather then them signing in on the event) to see if 1v1 same civ is viable.

The only downfall I see to this, though CBA is so popular, is that as efkan says, only the elitest will have a chance in 1v1 same civ over a few civs. My idea is to promote civs that aren't played much if at all, such as Saracens, Franks, Byz, Koreans & Goths. Just examples, because what we see is that CBA 1v1 players stick to their civ, like mong/celt and or maya.... if these are taken out, good cba players and even other players have a chance... we'll need to look at sign ups, my idea is bo3 civs per round and final may be the popular civs like maya/mong/celt.

I would like to enquire about prizes tbh... I know that with these tournaments, an incentive to play them is prizes.. badges.. because let's face it , the point system is broken. Obviously badges are ok, but how about some points? I honestly think it would improve numbers.. seeing as there are a few tournys around this time, obviously, premium memberships won't be allowed,

so how about if there is a nice turn out/nice no sign ups, prizes are

1st , 75 pts

2nd 50 pts

3rd 20 pts

+ badges..

just an idea, also it's not an excessive amount of points to be won, but well deserved never the less.

Nah I think its great we have several consecutive events coming up. I was thinking of a proper league system for bloods myself, since I'd rather focus on team bloods for tournaments.

charlie, the idea of the committee is for lots of tournaments, more mod tournys so more , diverse tournaments can happen in each community, lets face it, pts ladders r broke haha, so..... it's a good idea all around.

Besides, we haven't had a cba 1v1 tourny in forever.. so lets see how it goes. I will need help on the night, depends which mods/how many show up to help, i might play if we have enough, if not im happy to sit out and host.

I don't want this to sound like im complaining I really like different players getting involved in what voobly does with tournaments.
I just think we are setting an interesting precedent.
Considering March is going to have a tournament every weekend we can assume April will follow a similar pattern. Im just saying at the very least we should be more deliberate than this when handling tournaments. This suggestion was posted 2 hours before you announced it to Voobly. In comparison all the other events had multiple days of discussion between VCOM members. Should also have some sort of an order when announcing events as well imo. Two events that are happening at a later date were already announced before this event.

Ultimately the above is just my opinion. I really want VCOM to work I just think we all need to maybe discuss a few things and maybe develop some sort of a process or guidelines to use for creating new tournaments.

Pretty soon we are going to have players with like 10+ medals :P

What Taff said. We can't know our limits until we push ourselves to meet them.

I see your point entirely Charlie.. but I think of it like this,

the point system is broke. At the top of every ladder at pt'ers and noobs. No ladder is even 50% accurate,
so for me, tournaments are the only accurate way of deducing who are the best players and so be it if they have lots of awards... they deserve them, as appose to all of these 3k Brazillians who don't even patrol....... LOL

Charlie also makes some very valid points. It will look a little silly if we have every weekend in March full and then come April and May it dies a death.

I'll post up some more guidelines later and make it a pinned thread.

It won't, not with me on the job :P

Was fun helping host CBF :P.
I can see why we need something like VCOM to allow more tournaments. It can be enduring :P.
