DATE: Saturday the 24th of March 2012, 3PM GMT

The tournament will be played in the following Lounge VCOM Tournament Lounge

Game setting rules:

Map: Arabia
Speed: Normal
Starting Age:Standard
Resources: Standard
Speed/Teams: Locked
Victory: Time Limit (1 hour)
Reveal Map: Standard
Record Game: Failure to do so will result in disqualification. You will be required to upload records of all games. Game Renaming Format: Masters_of_Arabia_R#_Player1_vs_Player2.mgx
Cheats: DISABLED!
All tech: DISABLED!
Civilization: Huns

All rounds up until the semi final will have a time limit of 1 hour and the game itself will decide who wins on a points basis. Once we reach the semi final and of course the final there will be NO time limit so that we can get an undisputed winner. This is a knockout tournament or BO1 (best of 1) until Finals which will be BO3 (best of 3) with those civilisations: 1st Game: Huns - 2nd Game: Aztecs - 3rd Game: Mayans

It is YOUR DUTY to make sure game settings are set correctly. If they are not, and host refuses to change them to the correct setting, please contact a VCOM tournament mod.

Tournament Rules:

Dropping:
Dropping will be determined based on current game state:
- If the winner dropped, then the match will be restored.
- If the game is still undecided at time of drop, match will be restored.
The winner of the restored game will take a screenshot at the end of the game and upload it as the result.
Those dropped games have to be restored within 10min, else the player having a technical issue will be DQ'd. Then
- If the loser is dropping (and it is clear he iss losing), then the other person will move on and the dropped will be DQ'd.

All aspects, plus others not listed, will be analyzed before making a decision by tournament runners and others as they see fit.

Third Party Tools:
The use of any third party tool is prohibited. Examples are, but not limited to: Modified game files, syncers, crashers, network throttling devices (purposely lagging programs), and other such tools. Violation of this rule will not only result in disqualification from tournament, but termination/punishment as the Voobly staff team seems fit.

Misc:

You will have ten minutes to report to your first round game, or you will receive a lost and be eliminated from the tournament. You are also expected to play future rounds as soon as possible. Both issues may be extended at the tournament mods' discretion.

Any issues with the client that may arise will be dealt with by the VCOM tournament mods/admins as they are presented.

You may only play on your account, and may only enter the tournament with one account. This also includes playing for someone else if your account was eliminated. Failure to follow this rule will result in disqualification of all involved accounts.

Any rule can be added/modified at any time as seen fit by a Voobly tournament mod. This rule exists to stop and punish potential exploitation of loopholes in current rules.

All matches must be recorded and uploaded in the appropriate thread given by the Tournament Mods before advancing to the next round there will be NO exceptions. The games may be uploaded to [You must login to view link]

Here is an example of One Day 1x1 RM Tournament (based on Masters of Alternative March 25th topic)

Of course i am fully available saturday 24th March to run it.

The signups starts friday 9th march and close friday 23th March, so i have time to build brackets. (Advantage of this over a "live" signup 30min before the tournament starts is that the seeds and the brackets can be discussed, else the delay is too short imho)

@[VCOM]Arg_Voobly: Your help and avices would be welcome about how to seed players (i am well aware in what shape are current experts, but a 2nd point of view is always usefull), aswell as for helping managing it and dealing with issues (explaining players how to restore ... etc), especially since you speak spanish and i don't :)

But before announcing it, i would like the shields to be ready, the prizes to be decided (i think if csers can get special member ship for a one day tournament, rmers shall too), and the insurance of having at least one voobly moderator beeing fully available that day from 15 to 20gmt to deal with smurfing issues (by that i mean to verify if someone signed up 2 accounts, or if more than one player are playing on a single account)

About the map, i suggest to start with arabia since it is the more popular map in 1x1.

About civilisations, i have put huns because they are the more popular so far, i am afraid that if we let it free it will turn into aztecs wars mostly, which are usually less entertaining games.

About civilisations for the final, i have put most popular civs, i think huns and aztecs are a must, 3rd game could be another civwar (celts, spanish, chinese, vikings ...)

I think that if less than 16player signup, the tournament shall be cancelled

I have put a decrease in the duration of special membership prizes because i think a tournament with 16players only should not get same rewards as a 64 players tournament

My suggestion is to make this in April and not in March.

The RM community is not used to Voobly tunning tournaments so we need to have longer to advertise etc.

Pick a weekend in April towards the end if poss and I will get some premium prizes for the winners.

:)

well, i can't know if my weekend is free more than 3 weeks in advance :(, i will be able to help seedings and doing brackets though, but someone else will have to manage it live, for the 1st tourney at least.

gogo arg ? :)

about civs i definitely think we shall fix huns for arabia until finals.

for masters of fr: vikings then for finals vikings, huns and another (mongols/mayans ?)

for masters of arena: aztecs then for finals aztecs, spanish, mayans

we can make this event run over maybe 2 weeks? make the brackets and then the plyers have to post the recorded games.

Then the top 4 players play on a Sunday night to see who wins, live.

ok with this guys??

ok i thought again about it and the live thing is really limitating for rm, due to the length of the games mainly.

i suggest to go with taff idea, standard direct elimination tournament with each round lasting one week, and once we get to the half final we get the games live streamed.

i will ask to dreams if he would agree to do it and will let you know.
