Defense of the Ancients (DotA) is a multiplayer online battle arena mod for the video game Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and its expansion, Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne, based on the "Aeon of Strife" map for StarCraft. The objective of the scenario is for each team to destroy the opponents' Ancient, heavily guarded structures at opposing corners of the map. Players use powerful units known as heroes, and are assisted by allied heroes and AI-controlled fighters. As in role-playing games, players level up their heroes and use gold to buy equipment during the mission.
DotA pits two teams of players against each other: the Sentinel and the Scourge. Players on the Sentinel team are based at the southwest corner of the map, and those on the Scourge team are based at the northeast corner. Each base is defended by towers and waves of units which guard the main paths leading to their base. In the center of each base is the "Ancient", a building that must be destroyed to win the game.

Each human player controls one hero, a powerful unit with unique abilities. In DotA, players on each side choose one of 112 heroes,each with different abilities and tactical advantages over other heroes. The scenario is highly team-oriented; it is difficult for one player to carry the team to victory alone. Defense of the Ancients allows up to ten players in a five-versus-five format and an additional two slots for referees or observers, often with an equal number of players on each side.

Because the gameplay revolves around strengthening individual heroes, it does not require one to focus on resource management and base-building, unlike most traditional real-time strategy games. Killing computer-controlled or neutral units earns the player experience points; when enough experience is accumulated, the player gains a level. Leveling up improves the hero's toughness and the damage they can inflict, and allows players to upgrade their spells or skills. In addition to accumulating experience, players also manage a single resource: gold. The typical resource-gathering of Warcraft III is replaced by a combat-oriented money system; in addition to a small periodic income, heroes earn gold by killing hostile units, base structures, and enemy heroes. This has caused emphasis on a technique called "last-hitting," which is when the player attacks a hostile unit when "its hit points are low enough to kill it with one blow". Using gold, players buy items to strengthen their hero and gain abilities; certain items can be combined with recipes to create more powerful items. Buying items that suit one's hero is an important tactical element of the mod. Item choice also affects play style, as any given item may increase one statistic while leaving another unchanged, or give unique abilities changing the playstyle of the hero.

DotA offers a variety of game modes, selected by the game host at the beginning of the match. The game modes dictate the difficulty of the scenario, as well as whether people can choose their hero or are assigned one randomly. Many game modes can be combined, allowing more flexible options.

We on AOC can make a DOTA mod which will be a 3v3 RPG game with 44 heroes each with unique graphic and skills which will make our AOC community develop.Since i am not a mod-creator,i need someone who can help finish this mod.I got you the graphics of the units and the buildings,and even the terrain map.If you want to help,please use these graphics and if u have any questions ask me.

I. Lane Creeps

Notes:
Every 30 seconds, a creep wave will spawn, siege creeps will spawn every 7th wave.

Initially, a creep wave will consist of:
• 3 melee creeps
• 1 ranged creep
• 1 siege creep (only every 7th wave)

At 999, 1999, and 2999 seconds from the first wave, one additional melee unit will begin to spawn.
At 2699 seconds from the first wave, one additional ranged unit and siege unit will begin to spawn.

Instead of their usual XP bounty, denied units give 36 experience divided among enemy heroes in 1300 AoE.

[A06G] Creep next waypoint - This ability causes the creeps to be ordered along a lane path by triggers.
[A17S] SiegeUnit - This ability causes the unit to automatically attack any towers within 900 range.

When the appropriate barracks is destroyed (Ancient of War/Crypt for melee creeps, Ancient of Lore/Temple of the Damned for ranged and siege creeps), creep waves spawning on that lane will spawn the Mega version of that unit instead of the Normal version. When all barracks on all lanes are destroyed, the upgrades for the opposing side's creeps will all be set to level 30.

We dont have any MOBA map/mod in aoc,and MOBA is the best type of RPG.AOC have many players who love RPG so...

Roll the Dice classifies as MOBA. There already is DotA scenario for the game. Also, ZeroEmpires is making a AoC version of a DotA. There is no point for any scenario designer/mod maker to start a whole new project while someone already is creating the same thing.

The zeroempires' mod Age Of Heroes does not look like the DOTA,since there are only 18 heroes and with the normal aoc graphics and zeroempires will not upload his mod on voobly,and there is no place to play his mod,While this DOTA project have 44 heroes with unique graphics and special design.
About the AOC DOTA,its' design does not look like DOTA.Dota have creep waves which are 3 melee units and one archer and they upgrade by time,While the AOC DOTA one creeps are all aoc units,and the player must upgrade them,that doesn't sound like DOTA

Those are all MOBA styled games. ZeroEmpires never wanted to create a DotA for AoC, he wanted to create a MOBA alike mod for AoC, which would be AoC themed. The DotA scenario cannot be the same to the DotA game, because AoC works differently.

A MOBA Game with 18 heroes only,not as good as a MOBA Game with 44 heroes. Zeroempires didnt add new graphics to his mod because he is not good at graphics(he said that in a comment on his mod thread in aok heaven).Even if he added more heroes with good graphics,he is not going to add his mod on voobly.So that is useless,we voobly players need a MOBA game and not watch other players playing it in other community.
Since the AOC DOTA map was very succesful and there are many players on Game.Ranger and voobly play it,this mod will be played by many players here.People love RPG games,why not create the first RPG mod on voobly?

Let me break it to you why this is a bad idea.
  • There are many MOBA type of games that have millions of players world-wide, whereas AoC has around few thousands that play daily. Why just not play the actual MOBA games?
  • The person/team of people who would eventually make the mod do not get paid. They would do it from their own spare time and free will. Certainly they would earn the gratitude of some people, but is the time worth it?
  • There already is a DotA scenario and soon to be DotA mod, which both are very similar to the idea of DotA. Some things just cannot be done on the AoC platform, because it's old compared to the modern day games.

NB! A game with 44 heroes certainly is not better than a game with 18 heroes. The developers have to keep adding new heroes, because otherwise the players would lose interest eventually, so they keep giving more options and enchantments. It is just a trick by them how to keep people playing their game and that way they keep earning more money.

If u want to give up creating new ideas in this game,then u agree not creating visual mods which make the graphics better because this game is old and we can get a new game with better graphics without wasting time.
We want a mod to play on voobly,not on direct play as the one u talking about,and the AOC DOTA MAP IS VERY BAD COMPARED TO THE REAL DOTA IDEA.
The creators' effort will be worth it,because there are many DOTA players who play aoc on gameranger,and in my all my team like the dota map.

+Some of the units which willl be added to this mod are elfs,orcs,goblins,trolls.These units will be useful to maps other than Dota like LOTR,and in AOC we got no mod with units of these types.So this mod can be put in the gameroom while playing other maps than dota
